Thought For The Day: The Super Determined Little Boy

Melbourne, Australia

On 29 December 2018 at our "From Fear to Love" spiritual retreat in Yarra Glen, Australia so many wonderful things happened. One tidbit of delight was the determination of the little boy, Sri Tanvik, who insisted at our book table that he wanted a Krishna Book. This is the book by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, which wonderfully describes in detail the pastimes of Lord Sri Krishna when He was on this earth planet 5,000 years ago. My wife was at the book table and told the mother to give the Krishna Book to the boy because he was very attracted to it. But his mother was firm that because they already have the Krishna Book at home he could not get one. Although the boy was quiet he showed his great sorrow that he could not have his own personal Krishna Book. But then when his father came to the book table and bought him the book, Sri Tanvik, in great ecstasy was holding his Krishna Book to his chest. When at the age of three he is so determined to have Krishna, we can only begin to imagine how Krishna conscious this determined, darling little child will be when he grows up.

Question: Why Do I Exist?

I need help and guidance. I really need to know the meaning of life and existence itself. I mean, why was I born.? Did I choose to be here? If so what were my reasons? I just feel I have forgotten stuff that I ought not to. I need to remember. I need guidance.

Regards,
Solomon

Answer: To Love God

From: Melbourne, Australia

My Dear Solomon,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

You have existed eternally. God has been eternally emanating you from Himself in a similar way that the sun is emanating sun rays. In other words, you are a ray of God. He has been emanating you eternally from Himself because He wants to have a beautiful loving relationship with you. So it's not that you came into being in your present lifetime because your mother and father had sex. That only explains how you got your present body, which is only a garment that you, the eternal spiritual being, are wearing in your present lifetime.

The perfection of your existence is to now revive that lost loving relationship. That's what I am here for. I am God's messenger instructed by Him to teach you to become re-situated in your original loving relationship with Him.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Your ever well-wisher,
Sankarshan Das Adhikari

Thought For The Day: It's Time to Wake Up!

Melbourne, Australia

We should not cheat ourselves by remaining in the darkness of bodily misidentification. We are eternal spiritual beings qualitatively one with that Supreme Person, who has eternal youth, unlimited bliss, and unlimited knowledge. So instead of remaining stuck in temporality, ignorance, and misery we can awaken to our original, constitutional nature, which is eternal, full of bliss, and full of knowledge. All we have to do to attain this is to regain our original, loving relationship with that most delightful and wonderful Supreme Person. This most sublime art is learned from the bona fide spiritual master.

Thought For The Day: Why Do We Exist?

Melbourne, Australia

The scientists tell us that we exist as the result of an explosion 13.8 billion years ago. They call it the Big Bang. But since when has anything nicely organized and structured come out of an explosion? This is not real science. This is dogma. The real reason we exist is that the Supreme Person desiring to expand His enjoyment unlimitedly is expanding from Himself an unlimited number of living beings for the purpose of enjoying an intimate loving relationship with each and every one of them. Because love is voluntary, it cannot be forced, we have the free choice to love Him or leave Him. The vast majority of living beings never leave Him. They remain with Him eternally, serving Him with love in HIs transcendental abode. An infinitesimal fraction of the living beings make the mistake of trying to enjoy separately from Him, but after realizing their mistake they are gradually rectified to come back to their original liberated position in His transcendental association.

Question: How is Krishna Emanating Us?

Dear Guru,

How is Krishna emanating us eternally? There definitely must be a time when that emanation would happen.

Then would this be true that Krishna is emanating me right now as well?

Shreyansh Barodia

Answer: Like the Sun and Sun Rays

From: Melbourne, Australia

My Dear Shreyansh,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

That emanation has always been going on for all of eternity and is also happening right now. Krishna is like the sun, and we are like the sun rays.

The reason we exist is that Lord Sri Krishna is eternally emanating us from Himself for the purpose of enjoying an intimate loving relationship with each and every one of us.

In this regard Krishna states in the Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 10, Text 8 as follows:

ORIGINAL SANSKRIT:

aham sarvasya prabhavo
mattah sarvam pravartate
iti matva bhajante mam
budha bhava-samanvitah

TRANSLATION

"I am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise who perfectly know this engage in My devotional service and worship Me with all their hearts."

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in a super ecstatic mood.

Superbly Inspiring Song

Melbourne, Australia

A great spiritual master named Bhaktivinoda Thakura who lived in India from 1838 to 1914 wrote many wonderful songs of great spiritual elevation. One of them in particular that has very much inspired me is translated from Bengali into English as "When, Oh When Will That Day Be Mine?" The translated lyrics (with a little touch of Bengali) are as follows:

kabe ha'be bolo se-dina amar
aparadha ghuci', suddha name ruci,
krpa-bale ha'be hrdoye sañcar

When my offenses ceasing, taste for the name increasing, when in my heart will your mercy shine, when, oh when will that day be mine?

Lower than a blade of grass, more tolerant than a tree. When will my mind attain this quality? Respectful to all, not expecting their honour, then shall I taste the name's nectar sublime. When, oh when will that day be mine?

Great wealth or followers, feminine beauty, I won't care for them or the comforts of my body. Birth after birth give me, Oh Lord Caitanya, causeless devotion to Your feet divine, when, oh when will that day be mine?

When will I utter ‘Krishna, Krishna, Krishna’, with words choked up and shivering body? When will I be trembling all over, lose bodily color, tears pouring from my eyes, when, oh when will that day be mine?

When in Navadvipa along the Ganges bank, shouting 'Gaura-Nityananda' as a surrendered soul, dancing, chanting, running everywhere, when will I become half mad of mind? When, oh when will that day be mine?

When will Lord Nityananda show mercy upon me, when will I reject the world of maya? Bestow unto me the shade of Your lotus feet, let the right to preach the name be mine. When, oh when will that day be mine?

I will beg, borrow, or steal the nectar of the name. By the name's effect I will feel paralyzed. Oh! Enjoyer of the nectar of the name, When will I touch your lotus feet till the end of time? When, oh when will that day be mine?

When kindness to all beings will be appearing, with free heart forget myself comforting, Bhaktivinoda in all humility prays, "Now I will set out to preach Your order sublime." When, oh when will that day be mine?

--end of song--

When I was in Mauritius on a beautiful mountain, on 18 December 2018 my disciple, Sankirtana Das, made a video of my humble attempt to sing this song in mood of devotion. It is now posted as today's Video for the Day.

Thought For The Day: We All Love Doctors

Melbourne, Australia

Everybody loves doctors because everyone gets sick and doctors cure sickness. And the more the doctor is expert in this curing art, the more he or she becomes appreciated. But the ultimate doctor is the one who can cure the ultimate sickness, misidentification with our material body. That doctor is the spiritual master, the doctor who teaches you how to revive your original spiritual form, which is eternal and never gets sick or old. So we each need two doctors: the one who can cure our physical disease and the one who relieves us from all forms of disease, even death, by teaching us how to revive our original spiritual form.

Thought For The Day: Be Kind to Yourself

Sydney, Australia

Be kind to yourself. Don't torture yourself by continuing to misidentify with that which you are not, namely your temporary material body. There's absolutely no reason to go on punishing yourself when you could be rewarding yourself unlimitedly. Those are who intelligent and philosophically inclined focus their thoughts, words, and deeds in all times, places, and circumstances in harmony with the actual spiritual nature of the self as a loving servant of the Supreme Self and thus constantly relish great peace, harmony, and satisfaction.

So how do you choose to identify yourself? I hope you make the right choice because I don't like that anybody should ever have to suffer.

Question: Origin of Soul

Dear Guru,

I have read in one of Srila Prabhupada's books that God has multiplied and we are created.

But even though created, we use the word emanation or manifestation and also say that the soul is eternal in nature.

Does this mean that the soul exists in potential form as part of God and therefore it is said that the soul is eternal or already existing and is never created.

But there definitely must be a time when the soul is transformed from potential form to reality. Is this true?

Hare Krishna.
Shreyansh

Answer: Eternally Emanated from Krishna

From: Johannesburg, South Africa

My Dear Shreyansh,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

There was never a time when the soul was transformed from potential form to reality because Krishna is eternally emanating us as individual persons from Himself.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Real Meaning of Christmas

Johannesburg, South Africa

Today, 25 December, is celebrated as the appearance day of Lord Jesus Christ. Christians all over the world preach that if one does not accept Jesus, he goes to hell. So how do we devotees of Lord Krishna, relate to this concept? The fact of the matter is that we all accept Jesus as our savior because he is a saktyavesa avatara, a living entity who is especially empowered by Lord Krishna to deliver the fallen souls of this world back to home, back to Godhead.

It is interesting to note in this connection that it was Lord Jesus who brought me to the Krishna conscious movement. Here's how is happened:

As a young spiritual seeker back in 1971 I was trying to attain spiritual enlightenment. I had tried following various gurus, but their teachings and techniques proved to be absolutely worthless. So, what to do? I knew that Jesus Christ was a fully self-realized soul. Thus I was trying to figure out what was his secret, what made him a self-realized soul. For this purpose I would get up early every morning and read the Bible. One day an amazing realization dawned on when I read his prayer: "Father not my will, but Thy will be done." How wonderful! I knew that now I had found it, the secret of spiritual realization! You just have to do what God wants instead of what you want. In this way, you become spiritually perfect, a fully self-realized soul.

But I had a problem. I did not know what God wanted me to do. I was waiting, hoping for a divine revelation, but no voice from the sky came. But then a most amazing thing happened. Since I was a singer/songwriter, I was singing one of my songs on the stage at a vegetarian co-op. It was tough on my musician's ego because there was only one little girl in the audience. It was quite depressing actually. But much to my surprise when I finished my song that astoundingly perceptive little girl knowing that I was depressed because she was the only one hearing me, approached the stage and said, "Don't worry. God can hear you." Just see how God used her as a messenger.

Wow! That went really deep into my heart. I pondered that here I am someone who is hoping day after day to hear God's revelation of His will to me, but with no result. I have not been able to hear God. But now through this little girl, God has most mercifully revealed that although I cannot hear Him, He can hear me. So now my daily early morning meditation has been by God's grace transformed into an intense prayer, "Dear God, please guide me how I can become your perfect servant."

Then only after a few days of sincerely begging God in this way, a great saint from the Krishna consciousness movement, His Holiness Vishnujana Swami, arrives in Austin and from him, the perfect messenger of God, I receive the answer to my prayer that I can serve God by surrendering to the instructions of Lord Sri Krishna given in the Bhagavad-gita. This led to my joining the the Hare Krishna Movement, becoming an initiated disciple of ISKCON's Founder-Acharya: His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, to get the best possible training in this regard.

So now almost half a century later, here I am finding great peace, happiness, and satisfaction in serving the will of God following in the footsteps of such great saintly teachers as Lord Jesus Christ and my beloved spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada. If you all, my readers, will do the same, you will realize the same unlimitedly auspicious super-ecstatic results that I have realized. Therefore I invite you all to follow my example and regain your original full of bliss and full of knowledge eternal existence. This is real meaning of Christmas.

Thought For The Day: Letter to President Trump

Pretoria, South Africa

My Dear President Trump,

Please accept my respectful greetings.

I am one of the leaders of the Hare Krishna movement which was founded in New York in 1966 and has millions of followers all over the world. We are the ones who inspired George Harrison to write his mega hit song "My Sweet Lord." I have written to you before without receiving any personal response. But since you came in my dream last night as my friend giving me some helpful personal advice I thought that I would again write you seeking your help. Perhaps this time by God's grace I will have the opportunity to personally interact with you.

Presently our global civilization, due to a lack of God consciousness, is in a very perilous situation and has become more and more out of harmony with the laws of nature, wreaking great havoc on the well-being of all living creatures. The United States of America is the world's leading, most powerful country and is promoting God consciousness with "In God We Trust" as its official national motto. Thus the United States is well-positioned to bring powerful positive change in the world situation. And you, as the US President, are in the best position in the entire world for bringing a new age of peace and prosperity to our greatly beleaguered planet by re-establishing God as the center in all spheres of human activity. By doing so you will solidly establish your reputation in world history as one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known.

I would very much like to meet with you personally to discuss in detail how this can be implemented. Kindly let me know when would be a convenient time to come and meet with you in this regard.

Thought For The Day: Spiritual Birth

Solferino, Mauritius

On 20 December 2018 here in Mauritius I happily initiated four new disciples. Initiation is the most important step to take if one is serious to get out of the cycle of birth and death and return to his original home in the spiritual world. Our first birth is from our father and mother, and our second birth is from the spiritual master and the revealed scriptures. Without a second birth a human being is considered to still be on the animal platform because human life only factually begins when one fully dedicates himself to guru and Krishna.

Question: The Minute Soul Has Form?

Dear Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to Sri Guru and Gauranga.

Does the soul have any form? I have read in Srila Prabhupada's Bhagavad-gita purport that its size is 1/10,000th the tip of a hair and that we have consciousness in our whole body from head to toe because of the presence of this minute soul. How can this tiny particle have a shape or form?

Gurudeva, I am an ignorant soul. Please forgive me if I have unknowingly committed any mistake. I request that you kindly clear my doubts. If you can give some light on this, I will be grateful to you.

Thanks.

Your eternal servant,
Lokesh.

Answer: Yes, the Soul Has Form

From: Solferino, Mauritius

My Dear Lokesh,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Yes, the soul has form. At the present moment while we are falsely trying to enjoy this material world, our spiritual form is in an unmanifest seedlike stage compacted within a spiritual particle 1/10,000th the tip of hair. But when we become liberated from our tendency to try to enjoy separately from the Lord and become fully awakened in Krishna consciousness our original spiritual form will again become manifest. Just consider the example of how a gigantic banyan tree is present within a small banyan seed but, in due course of time, it fully comes out of that tiny seed.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Is this a Cult?

Solferino, Mauritius

A cult is a group of people who are practicing something which they claim to be genuine religion when in fact it is actually misleading, bogus, and false.

So by my participation in the Krishna consciousness movement, have I joined a cult? The answer is clearly "no." Why do I say that? Here's why:

In my personal search for higher truth, trying understand what is the purpose and perfection of my existence, I came to the conclusion that the perfection of my existence would be to serve the will of God. I was pleased by this realization while at the same time feeling unfulfilled because I did not know what was God's specific will for me. Then I met a sannyasi monk named Vishnujana Swami. He taught me, proving it on the basis of revealed scriptures and showing by his super-ecstatic example, that God's will for us is that we should regularly chant His holy names every day as much as possible. I was a bit skeptical at first. But I thought that since I've tried everything else and was still not satisfied, why not give this a try and see what is the result. When I did that I was truly astounded by the phenomenal results and 100% convinced that I had discovered, by the grace of God, a genuine path of spiritual awakening. As it is said, "Truth works." So if I have factually discovered the true path of spiritual awakening, I must be experiencing something situated far, far beyond this temporary material existence. It is also said that the proof of the pudding is in the eating. That's where I am at. By the process of spiritual awakening taught 5,000 years ago by Lord Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita, I am experiencing for half a century the most amazing, ever-increasingly blissful results. Who could ask for more?

Question: Is ISKCON a Cult?

How to respond when someone says that ISKCON is a cult?

Rajey Singh

Answer: ISKCON Mission: To Free All Cult Members

Our critics are members of the atheism/impersonalism cult. Krishna consciousness is the original natural energy of every living being. Thus just as a fish is constitutionally constituted to reside in water, every living being is constitutionally a servant of the Supreme Being, who is known as Krishna, Rama, Allah, Jehovah, etc. Thus everyone is actually a member of ISKCON. They just don't realize it yet due to bodily misidentification caused by their membership in the atheism/impersonalism cult. So our mission is to free all those poor souls who have been psychologically kidnapped by the atheism/impersonalism cult.

Thought For The Day: Choosing a Career

Solferino, Mauritius

As a college student at Austin College in Sherman, Texas USA I was supposed to choose a major field of study so that I could become qualified to enter into the career of my choice. But there was no career that attracted me. Finally I opted for theatre for lack of anything else. So I transferred in my 3rd year of undergraduate studies to the University of Texas at Austin, which had one of the top rated drama departments in the entire USA. For a time I was thinking that I had finally found my niche until one day we heard a presentation by one of our graduates who had become a successful actor. After hearing what it was like in the real world of theatre I realized that it was not for me.

Not finding fulfillment in any sort of career path, I was seeking knowledge of my actual identity beyond the dictates of the material society. Thus I pursued the path of self-realization, which led me ultimately to realize that I am the eternal servant of God and that my career is to be part of a spiritual revolution for the complete, total respiritualization of the entire human society.

I realized my niche almost a half century ago. It was definitely the proper conclusion, the culmination of my intensely desiring to know who I actually am.

Answer: Without Him We Have No Existence

From: Solferino, Mauritius

My Dear Dr. Vachharajani,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

We absolutely need God for everything because it is only by dint of His emanating us from Himself at every minute that we even exist at all. In other words, without Him we have no existence.

Thought For The Day: Reward Yourself

Solferino, Mauritius

Why unnecessarily punish yourself by bodily misidentification, forcing yourself to continue undergoing the miseries of birth, death, old age, and disease through millions of different species? Those who are intelligent reward themselves by awakening their dormant enlightened consciousness, which is eternal, full of bliss, and full of knowledge. This art of spiritual enlightenment is mastered by taking shelter of a bona fide spiritual master. I had the greatest good fortune of doing that in 1971, and now on his order it is my duty to popularize this perfection of consciousness all over the world. For this purpose I have started the Ultimate Self Realization Course. I currently have over 31,000 treasured subscribers of which you are one. I consider you to be a very special treasure. My current goal is to have at least 31 million subscribers so that the world atmosphere will change substantially.

Question: When is the Child's Prayer Answered?

Hare Krishna!

All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
All glories to Srila Gurudeva and Srimati Gurumata!

namo om visnu padaya krsna prestaya bhutale
srimate sankarsana dasa adhikariti namine

namo prabhupadanuga prema-murti krpatmane
gauradesa-vikasartha-uttama bhakti varsine

My Dear Srila Gurudeva,

In Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 3, Chapter 31, the prayers of the child in the womb are described. When the child is sincerely praying for deliverance from his mother's womb, promising to engage in devotional service when he his released, why does he forget his prayers when he is pushed outside of his mother's womb? Why is maya, the servant of Krishna overpowering a living entity who is praying? When will the Lord answer his prayers?

Thanking you for your mercy.

Your insignificant servant in the dust of your lotus feet,
Guru Vandana devi dasi

Answer: When He Accepts a Spiritual Master

From: Solferino, Mauritius

My Dear Disciple Guru Vandana,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Srila Prabhupada explains:

"As long as the child is within the womb of his mother, he is in a very precarious and horrible condition of life, but the benefit is that he revives pure consciousness of his relationship with the Supreme Lord and prays for deliverance. But once he is outside the abdomen, when a child is born, maya, or the illusory energy, is so strong that he is immediately overpowered into considering his body to be his self." (from purport to SB 3.31.20)

Maya is able to overpower him because instead of praying for pure devotional service in any condition of existence he is praying that his external situation may be changed.

This prayer for deliverance he made within the womb is answered when, by the grace of Lord Sri Krishna, he comes in contact with a bona fide spiritual master who teaches him to pray for pure devotional service in any condition of existence, even if it means taking birth after birth to serve the mission of the Lord.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: I Am Here to Help You

Solferino, Mauritius

Material life, no matter how successful, ultimately fails to satisfy us because by nature we are spiritual beings. Just as a fish cannot be satisfied on the land because he is a creature of the water, we cannot be satisfied in this material atmosphere because we are spiritual beings. Almost a half century ago I was blessed with a system of self-realization based on ancient teachings from India which actually works to bring one's consciousness to the spiritual platform even while one is engaged successfully in executing his material activities. I have started this course to freely share this with the world so that others can relish the same spiritual happiness that I experience every day. So I am here to help you become solidly situated on the spiritual platform. Just let me know how I can best be of service to you.

Question: When No Taste, What to Do?

I am having this difficulty of duality. Sometimes I am very much inclined to practicing the ultimate self realization system, Krishna consciousness. At that time chanting, reading, and my service will all go on very nicely. But sometimes I am far away from this ecstatic mood with no taste at all and I am only doing these things mechanically. Please help me.

Your humble servant,
Archana

Answer: Keep Chanting, the Taste Will Come

From: Solferino, Mauritius

My Dear Archana,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

For a person who has jaundice, sugar candy tastes horribly bitter. But the cure for jaundice is to take sugar candy. So even when you have no taste for reading and chanting you should do them anyway as matter of duty. In this way gradually you will reach the stage where you will taste ever-increasing bliss every time you read and chant.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: It's Time for Spiritual Awakening

Solferino, Mauritius

Suffering is the pastime of those who are in ignorance. Unlimited bliss is your natural constitutional consciousness. Therefore all those who would like to regain their original constitutional consciousness should now take to the path of spiritual awakening. Spiritual awakening cannot be achieved by the mental concoctions of one who is not spiritually awakened. Such concoctions will only keep him in a sleeping condition, although he may foolishly imagine himself to be spiritually awakened. It can be attained only by becoming the student of one who is already spiritually awakened. Such a person is known as a bona fide guru or a bona fide spiritual master.

Therefore my best advice to every human being on this planet and indeed throughout the entire universe is to seek out a bona fide spiritual master today, and after finding him become his humble, totally sold-out student. Then under his expert guidance you will quickly and easily become spiritually awakened.

This is what I did. Now I am advising you to do the same!

Try it! You'll love it!!

Question: ISKCON a Scam?

Is ISKCON a scam?

Anonymous

Answer: ISKCON is Not a Scam

ISKCON is the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, which was founded in 1966 in New York by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. It is not a scam. It is the most wonderful organization in the entire world for bringing about the complete, total respiritualization of the human society, for thus bringing true lasting peace, prosperity and happiness to the entire suffering humanity. ISKCON is based on strictly following the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita as it is. Those who call themselves ISKCON but do not follow the teachings of the Bhagavad-gita as it is are MISKCON (missing Krishna consciousness) not ISKCON. Do yourself a favor. Visit your nearest ISKCON center (Centers | ISKCON Centers) as soon as possible and awaken the unlimited eternal bliss, love, and knowledge, which is now lying dormant within your heart.

Thought For The Day: The World Religion

Solferino, Mauritius

Instead of so many religions fighting with another with their members even sometimes killing and torturing each other, we should have one world religion that everyone can acknowledge and appreciate. The good news is that we don't have to invent or create this world religion because it already exists. The ancient Vedic scriptures reveal that world religion, which is denoted in Sanskrit as sanatana-dharma, the eternal duty of the soul. So what is that duty? To serve the Supreme Person Who has unlimited names, unlimited activities, unlimited qualities, and unlimited mercy upon His beloved children who are currently entangled in the cycle of birth, death, old age, and disease here in this material world. That Supreme Person is acknowledged by all religions. Therefore devotion to Him is indeed the world religion. How to be dedicated to Him has been taught by Him personally in the Bhagavad-gita (in which Lord Sri Krishna instructs His devotee Arjuna) and Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu 500 years ago in India, as well as revealed by His representatives such as Moses, Hajrat Muhammad, and Lord Jesus Christ. When everyone can acknowledge and appreciate that religion is one, to be a pure lover of God, a new era of unparalleled peace and prosperity will become manifest on planet earth.

Question: How to Never Eat Meat Again?

Dear Guru Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

Gurudeva, I would like to reveal that until one month ago I used to eat meat a lot since my childhood. Today I feel that my problems related to aggression, rude and bad behavior, were all due to this meat-eating only and nothing else. So now how can I keep my senses under control so that I will never touch meat again throughout my life?

Thanks a lot for guiding me in this regard.

Your humble servant,

Amit Gupta
New Delhi, India

Answer: Eat Only Krishna Prasadam

From: Solferino, Mauritius

My Dear Amit,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

If you will offer all of your vegetarian food to Lord Krishna before eating, in this way for the rest of your life you will be eating only Krishna prasadam, the remnants of foods offered to Lord Krishna, and you will never fall down into this disgustingly sinful activity of meat eating ever again.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: You Can Make a Difference

Solferino, Mauritius

Instead of simply helplessly witnessing an ever-increasingly deplorable world situation the good news is that you can indeed make a difference. By re-harmonizing yourself with the Supreme Person, who is the source of all existence, your mere presence in this world will have an uplifting impact on the global consciousness. And if you actively take up the work of educating those who are disconnected in the art of how to reconnect with that Supreme Person, your impact will indeed be truly revolutionary. So now its up to you what you want to do. Do you want to be part of the solution of the global quagmire or part of the problem? You make your decision now. I hope you make the right choice.

Question: Fate of Those Who Reject Guru?

My dear Srila Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your lotus feet.
All glories to you and our beloved Srimati Gurumataji.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Srila Gurudeva, while going through previous year's Thought for the Day, in one Thought for the Day, in the question and answer portion, I found this statement. You mentioned that the spiritual master remains in the material universe until all of his disciples are delivered, and that this is confirmed in a letter that Srila Prabhupada wrote to Jayapataka Maharaja in 1969. This special kindness of the spiritual master is reserved for those of his disciples who are strictly following the regulative principles, not for those who have given up following his instructions.

So, Srila Gurudeva, what about those who give up following instructions of their spiritual master? What happens to them? What is their position and does this mean that there is not a guru-disciple relation between them.

Please help understand this subject matter.
Thank you so much!!

Your Loving Daughter and unworthy servant,
Nandapriya Devi Dasi

Answer: They Are Disconnected

From: Solferino, Mauritius

My Dear Nandaprya,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Srila Prabhupada has explained this as follows:

"You have asked if it is true that the Spiritual Master remains in the material universe until all of his disciples are transferred to the Spiritual Sky. The answer is "yes." This is the rule. Therefore, every student should be very much careful not to commit any offense which will be detrimental to this promotion to the Spiritual Kingdom, and thereby the Spiritual Master has to incarnate again to deliver him. This sort of mentality will be a kind of offense to the Spiritual Master. Out of the ten kinds of offenses, the number one offense is to disobey the orders of the Spiritual Master. The instructions given to the disciple by the Spiritual Master at the time of initiation should be strictly followed. That will make one advance to the spiritual path. But if one deliberately defies such instructions, then his advancement is hampered from the very beginning. This defying means to disconnect the relationship with the Spiritual Master. And anyone who defies and therefore disconnects the relationship with the Spiritual Master can hardly expect the assistance of the Spiritual Master life after life." (from a Letter to: Jayapataka -- Los Angeles 11 July, 1969)

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: My Greatest Challenge

Solferino, Mauritius

My greatest challenge is that I have attracted tens of thousands of students from all the over the world. Some of them are complete beginners who have no idea at all about the self-realization process while others are highly advanced practitioners who have been engaging in the self-realization for many years. How am I to successfully instruct and benefit them both in the same daily broadcast? Owing to time constraints in my jammed packed schedule it is not practical to make two separate broadcasts. I simply have to somehow facilitate both the adept and the neophyte in the same broadcast.

Question: Who is the Sufferer?

The human body is lifeless, but the soul is animate. So does it mean that the soul is the sufferer? When we do sins, who is the sinner? Is it the soul? If the soul is eternal, full of knowledge, and full of bliss, then why the soul is doing sins.

Gurudeva, I am very much in confusion on this, please help me.

Thought For The Day: Welcome to the World of Unlimited Bliss

Solferino, Mauritius

In this world everyone is looking for unlimited happiness, but no one is ever finding it. They always get a mix of happiness and distress. But mixed happiness is not pure happiness because it is always tinged with the anxiety of knowing that sooner or later it will be gone. Therefore if you want real happiness, you have to find that happiness which can never be interrupted by any material circumstances, even old age, disease, and death. This real happiness is what we are able to offer to you. I hope that you will take full advantage of our teachings and make your life unlimitedly successful.

Answers According to Vedic Wisdom

Question: Chant Hare Krishna or Hare Rama First?

Please accept my respectful and humble obeisances onto your lotus feet.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada and all glories to you.

I am Parth from Jammu and Kashmir India, a student in tenth standard. I wanted to ask you that what is the actual mahamantra. Does it start from Hare Rama or Hare Krishna? I am in a dilemma, as I am in india where there are so many organizations. Most of them say the mahamantra starts with Hare Rama and they claim that it is written as such in the Vedas and Puranas and that our Gaudiya sampradaya has reversed it. So please tell me what is actually true.

Your unworthy servant,
Parth Manhas

Answer: We Follow Lord Caitanya, Who is Krishna Himself

From: Solferino, Mauritius

My Dear Parth,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The Gaudiya Vaisnavas have not reversed it. In many authoritative scriptures Hare Krishna precedes Hare Rama. For example:

Ananta Samhita:

hare krishna hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare hare rama hare
rama rama rama hare hare sodasaitani namani dvatrimsad varna kani
hi kalau yuge mahamantrah sammato jiva tarane

“Hare Krishna hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare. This hari-nama mahamantra consists of sixteen names and thirty-two syllables. In Kali-yuga this mantra can deliver all jivas.”

In the Brahma Yamala, Lord Shiva states:

harim bina nasti kincat papani-starakam kalau tasmal-lokod-dharana-
artham hari-nama prakasayet sarvatra mucyate loko mahapapat kalau
yuge hare-krsna pada dvandvam krsneti ca pada-dvayam tatha hare-
pada-dvandvam hare-rama iti dvayam tad-ante ca mahadevi- rama rama
dvayam vadet hare hare tato bru-yad harinama samud dharet
mahamantram ca krsnasya sarva papa pranasakam

“He Mahadevi! Look! In Kali-yuga there is no easier way to eradicate sins than by sri-hari-nama. It is therefore essential to propagate sri hari-nama among the general populace. The people in Kaliyuga can be easily liberated from the greatest hell by performing sankirtana of this mahamantra. To chant the mahamantra, first chant Hare Krishna twice, then chant Krishna twice, then Hare twice. After that, chant Hare Rama twice, then Rama twice and again Hare twice. One should chant, articulate and perform sankirtana etc., of Sri Krishna’s mahamantra, which destroys all sins.”

In the Radhahrdya Khanda of the Brahmanda Purana, Romaharsana Suta prays to Sri Veda Vyasa as follows:

yat tvaya kirtitam natha hari-nameti sanjitam mantram brahmapadam
siddhi karam

He Vibho! He Prabhu! Please instruct me in the brahma svarupa nama mantra of Sri-Hari which is the bestower of all perfections.”

In reply, Sri Veda Vyasa gives the following instruction:

grhanad yasya mantrasya dehi brahmamayo bhavet sadhyah putah surapo
‘pi sarvasiddhi-yuto bhavet tad-aham te bhidhasyami mahabhagavato
hamsi hare krishna hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare hare rama
hare rama rama rama hare hare iti sodasakam namnam tri-kala
kalmasapaham natah parataropayah sarva vedesu vidhyate

“O my son, I will certainly instruct you in that maha-mantra, the acceptance of which a person in the bodily conception of life can be liberated and even a drunkard can quickly become purified and attain all perfection. I will instruct you because you are a maha-bhagavata and a suitable candidate. Just see! The sixteen word mahamantra:

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

can destroy the sins of the three worlds. The four Vedas do not mention a method for achieving liberation from material bondage superior to the chanting of this mahamantra.”

The Ananta Samhita also states:

hare krishna hare krishna krishna krishna hare hare hare rama hare
rama rama rama hare hare sodasautani namani dvatrimsad varnakani hi
kalau yuge mahamantrah sammato jiva tarane utsrajyaitan-mahamantram
ye tvanyat kalpitam padam maha-nameti gayanti te sastra-guru-lani-
ghanah

“All sastras agree that the Hare Krishna maha-mantra, which is composed of sixteen names and thirty-two syllables, is the illustrious mantra to deliver the jivas in Kali-yuga. Those who neglect this mahamantra and accept any other process, due to their own imagination or the imagination of others, are actually disobeying guru and sastra. If someone asks, ‘Why is this sixteen word Hare Krishna mantra the mahamantra' then the following answer is given:

‘Among all of Krishna’s names no name other than Hari can easily take away sins, great misfortune and ignorance. No name other than Krishna can deliver prema. And no name other than Rama can bestow liberation.’

This is why the mahamantra is composed of these three primary names. Secondly, these sixteen names are an invocation. Om, svaha, etc., are not required to make the mantra more potent. For this reason it is called the mahamantra.”

But of course, it is not a major controversy if in some places it is mentioned to chant Hare Rama first. Because once you get chanting it does not make any difference.

If should also be noted that Lord Caitanya, who is Krishna Himself, chanted the mahamantra beginning with Hare Krishna. Therefore we follow His perfect example.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Your ever well-wisher,

Sankarshan Das Adhikari

Thought For The Day: Atheism is Blind Faith

Solferino, Mauritius

Since it can be scientifically proven that every machine requires an operator and also scientifically proven that the universe functions as a machine, it does not take a rocket scientist to figure that the universe must also have an operator. This is the proof of God's existence. Therefore it's a fact that atheism is blind faith dogma with no philosophical or scientific foundation. The atheist is like a criminal who says that there is no government. But one day the criminal will be caught and the government will punish him. Similarly these criminal atheists will all be caught, and they will be punished by the supreme government, which they say does not exist. Of course, we don't like to see anyone suffering. Therefore our agenda is that by scientific and philosophical argument we will turn all of the atheists into philosophers who scientifically understand the existence of the Supreme Operator, i.e. God, so that they can also be released from the cycle of repeated birth, death, old age, and disease.

Complaint: What I Don't Like About ISKCON

One thing that I do not like about ISKCON, although I am an Indian Hindu, is that ISKCON's Founder:Acharya, Srila Prabhupada, says that Lord Shiva and Goddess Durga cannot give moksha or liberation because they are not supreme gods. ISKCON has made Hinduism like Islam or Christianity. If you read the Vedas it is written that Brahman is supreme and that Krishna, Durga, Shiva, and Ganesh are not separate from Brahman. If you read the Shiva Purana, you will see that Lord Shiva is the Supreme, and if you read the Devi Bhagavatam, you will see that Durga is the Supreme, etc.

Sharan

Answer: If All Are Supreme No One is Supreme

My Dear Sharan,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Since supreme means "one without a second," if everybody is the Supreme as you propose, then there is no Supreme. You may think that all types of worship are the same. But Lord Shiva disagrees with you. Here's what he told Parvati:

aradhananam sarvesam visnor aradhanam param

Of all kinds of worship, the worship of Lord Vishnu is the best.

And it is also confirmed in the Vedic wisdom that the original form of Vishnu is Krishna.

Of course, you are welcome to think anything you want. But if you want actual liberation from the cycle of birth you have to follow the pathway of the great acharyas like Lord Shiva.

I hope you can understand this point, because I will not be very happy if you have to take birth again here in this miserable material world.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Back to Mauritius

Solferino, Mauritius

We have just arrived in Mauritius. But we have not come here as so many tourists do for so-called fun in the sun. We have come here on a mission, to carry on with our usual work of sharing the science/philosophy of Krishna consciousness for liberating those souls who are currently entangled in the cycle of repeated birth and death. This material world is miserable even here in heavenly Mauritius, because no matter where you are, you have to get sick, get old, and die. Everywhere these miseries are forced upon us even though we don't want them and we can't stand them. But it does not have to be this way. Just try giving your love to that person who is the source of all existence, and you will feel the change. Some call Him Krishna, some call Him Allah, some call Him Jehovah. But whatever you call Him, give your love to Him and your life will be most wondrously transformed. Do it now, not tomorrow. Do it right now and immediately awaken your eternal identity.

Thought For The Day: At The Bhaktivedanta Manor

London, UK

On Sunday 9 December I was blessed with the most auspicious opportunity of giving the Sunday feast lecture at ISKCON's Bhaktivedanta Manor in London. This is the manor that was donated to ISKCON by George Harrison. The story of George's relationship with ISKCON is presented as follows on ISKCON's Bhaktivedanta Manor website:

Despite The Beatles incredible fame and fortune, due to the pressures of touring and the constant attention from public and media, peace of mind and happiness had escaped them. So, in 1967 they travelled to Rishikesh. This trip to India was part of a sudden fascination of everything Indian by the vibrant and searching youth of the late 1960s. Soon, however, The Beatles returned to London, developing a taste for Indian spirituality, but not finding full satisfaction. George continued his search and meanwhile Shyamasundar das, Mukunda das and other disciples of Srila Prabhupada moved to London in order to establish a temple.

In 1969, both George and Shyamasundar das had their wishes fulfilled when they met at a function at Apple Records. After spending some time together, George invited Shyamasundar das to his house and the relationship began from there. When Srila Prabhupada arrived in Britain both George and John were deeply impressed by him. Once, on a car journey from France to Portugal, George and John chanted Hare Krishna for 17 hours non-stop!

George’s interest in Krishna Consciousness and the devotees continued to grow. By this time, The Beatles were married and started to work on their own separate projects. In 1970, George produced the Radha Krishna Temple album with the devotees, a track from which featured in the top ten record sales in that year. He also wrote many songs, which included devotional references. One such song was “My Sweet Lord”, which included the Hare Krishna mantra in the chorus.

In 1970 George donated ISKCON funds to pay for the printing of a book, ‘Krishna the Supreme Personality of Godhead’, which contains the pastimes of Lord Krishna, with commentary by Srila Prabhupada.

By 1972, ISKCON was growing very rapidly around the world. The London temple, which was then at Bury Place near the British Museum, was getting much too small. George asked a British devotee, Dhananjaya das, to choose a large property not too far from London. Several properties were investigated, but finally they settled on the building we know today, Bhaktivedanta Manor.

When Bhaktivedanta Manor was donated, Srila Prabhupada said of George, “Because he has given shelter to Krishna by providing this temple, Krishna will surely provide shelter for him.” Just before Srila Prabhupada left this world in 1977, he removed the ring on his right hand and said to the disciples around him, “This is for George, give it to him.”

Over the years that followed, George kept in contact with Shyamasundar das and Mukunda Swami, who always respected his wish not to be in the limelight. George became a loving father, worked on a great variety of films, studied landscape gardening and always kept Lord Krishna deep within his heart.

By the 1990’s, a campaign to save Bhaktivedanta Manor from closure by Hertsmere Council was well under way. George was observing the development of the Campaign and was giving his full moral support, although preferring not to be in the media limelight.

Unfortunately by the mid 1990’s George was suffering from various forms of cancer. On December 31st 1999, a terrible attempt on George’s life took place: Someone broke into his home and attacked him with a knife, to which he called upon Krishna’s name. Fortunately, his faithful and loving wife Olivia came to his rescue.

On Thursday 29th November 2001, George sadly passed away in Los Angeles. Naturally, people all around the world were deeply saddened by George’s passing. He was a truly remarkable person who touched the hearts of millions around the world through his messages of love and peace.

Question: A Devotee is Never Lost?

My dear Srila Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your lotus feet.

All glories to you and our beloved Srimati Gurumataji.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Srila Gurudev, this morning while reading the Srimad Bhagavatam I came across this verse which Srila Prabhupada quotes from Bhagavad-gita 9.31: kaunteya pratijanihi na me bhaktah pranasyati---"Once one has taken shelter at the lotus feet of the Lord, he cannot be lost." This statement really gives great hope.

Does this statement mean that whoever has taken up devotional service once or has rendered some devotional service will never be lost even if he or she falls down at some point of time or gave up the process?

What is the correct understanding, Srila Gurudeva? Please enlighten this soul.

Thank you so much .

Your unworthy servant,
Nandapriya Devi Dasi

Answer: Yes. He Is Never Lost.

From: London

My Dear Nandapriya,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

It's a fact that anyone who seriously takes up the pathway of Krishna consciousness, even if they have a fall down from this pathway of pure devotional service, will sooner or later be rectified and will attain the supreme perfection of going back to home, back to Godhead.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Stop Trying to Be the Center

London, UK

We have to stop trying to be the center of the universe because we are not. Although it is utter foolishness to spend all of our time and energy trying to be something that we are not, we are still the most foolish human beings because we are completely wasting our energy to do exactly that. Isn't a pity? Something must be done now to change this. This and only this should be the number one priority for all the world's leader.

Question: Why Do Materialists Suffer?

Do materialistic people suffer because they are not in Krishna consciousness? Why don't they give up their suffering and come to Krishna consciousness?

Vivek Gadde

Answer: Because They Are Not Krishna Conscious

From: London

My Dear Vivek,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Just as person who is drowning in the ocean is in a suffering condition, those persons who are not Krishna conscious are in a suffering condition drowning in the ocean of birth, death, old age, and disease.

It is because of their ignorance of the science of Krishna that they remain in their suffering condition. This is why we want to enlighten them. It pains us greatly to see the entire world population drowning in this ocean of ignorance and misery.

Thought For The Day: The Science of Religion

Austin, Texas USA

Sectarian religion is not really religion. It is religiosity. Real religion is not based on blind faith. It is based instead on science and philosophy. In other words, it is the science of God. In this regard it should be carefully noted, scientifically analyzed, that every machine requires an operator or a programmer to turn it on. No machine has the power to turn itself on automatically. If it appears to do so, it is only because someone has programmed it to do so. Therefore the principle that in every case every machine requires an operator always holds true. And since this gigantic cosmic manifestation that we currently find ourselves situated in also functions as a machine, we can understand scientifically and philosophically that this universal machine also requires an operator. In this way we have proven the existence of God by pure logic without blind faith or dogmatism.

Thought For The Day: Keep Your Priorities Straight

Austin, Texas USA

We have a tendency to de-prioritize that which is ultimately important, namely the awakening of pure love of God within our hearts and to give more importance to that which is only relatively important, namely our daily activities of bodily maintenance. This is not at all good. We must learn to always keep our primary focus on spiritual awakening. In this connection the Bible wisely states, "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and all things shall be added unto you." And Krishna states in the Bhagavad-gita, "For those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form—to them I carry what they lack, and I preserve what they have." So instead of listening to our rascal minds we should mold our lives according what is stated in scripture. This will give us great happiness and peace of mind. Plus this will qualify us to go back to home, back to Godhead at the time of leaving our present material bodies.

Thought For The Day: The Perfection of Time Management

Austin, Texas USA

Don't waste a single moment. Even one moment of time wasted cannot be gotten back even by spending millions and billions of dollars. Time management is nowadays very popular with materialists. There are so many time management seminars and books in the market place. But because they teach only how to utilize your time more efficiently for sense gratification all they are really doing is teaching how to become expert at wasting your time.

On the other hand, devotees of Krishna are the real expert time managers because they know that every moment of time belongs to Krishna and thus must be utilized in Krishna's service. Any moment of time that is not full engaged in Krishna's service is a permanent loss because once that moment is gone it is finished forever and can never be gotten back. Because the devotees of the Lord expertly engage their every moment in Krishna consciousness, their going back to home, back to Godhead at the time of death is guaranteed. Let us all now become like that, fully dedicated to Lord Sri Krishna.

Thought For The Day: The War Against Maya or Illusion

Austin, Texas USA

Our enemy is maya or illusion. We have been conquered by illusion and are thus the slaves of illusion. Therefore we must now fight a war of independence to get free from the clutches of illusion. In this way instead of trying to imagine that we are happy in our present suffering condition, we can become factually happy as liberated souls no longer imprisoned in the vicious cycle of birth and death. If you have not alway declared war on maya or illusion, take up the fight today under the guidance of Guru and Krishna. The life you save will be your own. Plus you will become a positive force for benefitting the entire world. What could be more fulfilling than this?

Thought For The Day: The Light at the End of the Tunnel

Austin, Texas USA

We are presently in the darkness of material existence suffering like anything in the cycle of birth, death, old age, and disease. But as soon as we seriously take to the path of Krishna consciousness, even though we are still to some extent within the grips of the material energy, we are inspired by the light of pure Krishna bhakti at the end of the tunnel, which we are gradually approaching. This light of Krishna consciousness gives us great joy and hope. It enables us to tolerate the difficulties that we sometimes have to face on this most sublime ultimate pathway of awakening our dormant Krishna consciousness.

Thought For The Day: It's Time to Get Out of Our Rut

Austin, Texas USA

Instead of being miserable, we should count our blessings for all the wonderful things that God has given us. Then we should reciprocate with His kindness by engaging ourselves fully in His transcendental loving service. If we will follow this simple instruction, we will become free from all anxiety, absolutely happy in all times, places, and circumstances. The difficulty is we lack faith in this principle. Thus we suffer on and on needlessly. It's time that we get out of our rut and start being a little intelligent.

Thought For The Day: Beware of Bogus Gurus

Austin, Texas USA

In this Kali Yuga, the age of cheating, the world is full of bogus so-called spiritual masters who are very expert at taking away your money, but completely incompetent in doing the real duty of a spiritual master, which is to take away your karma and deliver you back to your original eternal identity that you once had in the spiritual world before you fell down into this material world by a misuse of your free will. So one must be very careful to find the bona fide spiritual master, the teacher who does not concoct anything but simply purely gives you what he has received from his bona fide spiritual master. I was personally misguided by several bogus so-called gurus before I found the genuine spiritual master. The charlatans are very dangerous for one's spiritual life and thus should be strictly avoided.

Dilemma: We Cannot Afford the Guru

My husband and I have been trying to learn to become Buddhists, but we do not know where to start. And Sadhguru is the only real guru that we know of that would help. But his classes cost so much, and we are not rich with money. Please help us. Please guide us.

Answer: Reject the Bogus Guru and Accept the Real Guru

From: ISKCON Austin, Texas USA

My Dear Jayla,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Any guru who charges you a fee to train you is not a bona fide guru. The bona fide spiritual master freely trains you in the self-realization process. He never charges a fee like the rip-off so-called gurus. If you will simply take complete shelter of the bona fide guru, he will lovingly guide you how to become spiritually perfect and thus enter into a state of eternal, unlimited happiness.

Self-realization is transcendental to all designations such as Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh, Jain, Muslim, Christian, etc. Real self-realization means to realize that you are the eternal servant of Krishna or God and to become practically engaged in serving Him under the guidance of the bona fide spiritual master.

If you are willing and ready to take my guidance, I will train you how to become spiritually perfect. And I will not charge you a fee.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: The Koran Describes Allah as a Personal God With a Form

Austin, Texas USA

The following is an excerpt from the Sri Caitanya-caritamrita with the translations and purports of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in which Lord Caitanya reveals the ultimate conclusion of the Muslim scripture, the Koran:

Among the Muslims was a grave person who was wearing a black dress. People called him a saintly person. The heart of that saintly person softened upon seeing Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. He wanted to talk to Him and establish impersonal Brahman on the basis of his own scripture, the Koran. When that person tried to establish the impersonal Brahman conception of the Absolute Truth on the basis of the Koran, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu refuted his argument. Whatever arguments he put forward, the Lord refuted them all. Finally the person became stunned and could not speak.

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, "The Koran certainly establishes impersonalism, but at the end it refutes that impersonalism and establishes the personal God. The Koran accepts the fact that ultimately there is only one God. He is full of opulence, and His bodily complexion is blackish. According to the Koran, the Lord has a supreme, blissful, transcendental body. He is the Absolute Truth, the all-pervading, omniscient and eternal being. He is the origin of everything. Creation, maintenance and dissolution come from Him. He is the original shelter of all gross and subtle cosmic manifestations. The Lord is the Supreme Truth, worshipable by everyone. He is the cause of all causes. By engaging in His devotional service, the living entity is relieved from material existence. No conditioned soul can get out of material bondage without serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Love at His lotus feet is the ultimate goal of life.

PURPORT

According to the Muslim scripture, without evadat, offering prayers at a mosque or elsewhere five times daily (namaz), one cannot be successful in life. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu pointed out that in the revealed scripture of the Muslims, love of Godhead is the ultimate goal. Karma-yoga and jñana-yoga are certainly described in the Koran, but ultimately the Koran states that the ultimate goal is the offering of prayers to the Supreme Person (evadat).

"The happiness of liberation, whereby one merges into the Lord's existence, cannot even be compared to a fragment of the transcendental bliss obtained by service unto the Lord's lotus feet. In the Koran there are descriptions of fruitive activity, speculative knowledge, mystic power and union with the Supreme, but ultimately all this is refuted and the Lord's personal feature established, along with His devotional service. The scholars of the Koran are not very advanced in knowledge. Although there are many methods prescribed, they do not know that the ultimate conclusion should be considered the most powerful. Seeing your own Koran and deliberating over what is written there, what is your conclusion?"

The saintly Muslim replied, "All that You have said is true. This has certainly been written in the Koran, but our scholars can neither understand nor accept it. Usually they describe the Lord's impersonal aspect, but they hardly know that the Lord's personal feature is worshipable. They are undoubtedly lacking this knowledge.

PURPORT

The saintly Muslim admitted that those who were supposedly conversant in the teachings of the Koran could not ultimately understand the essence of the Koran. Because of this, they accepted only the Lord's impersonal feature. Generally they recite and explain this portion only. Although the transcendental body of the Lord is worshipable, most of them are unaware of this.

"Since You are that very same Supreme Personality of Godhead Himself, please be merciful upon me. I am fallen and unfit. I have studied the Muslim scripture very extensively, but from it I cannot conclusively decide what the ultimate goal of life is or how I can approach it. Now that I have seen You, my tongue is chanting the Hare Krishna maha-mantra. The false prestige I felt from being a learned scholar is now gone."

Saying this, the saintly Muslim fell at the lotus feet of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and requested Him to speak of life's ultimate goal and the process by which it could be obtained.

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu said, "Please get up. You have chanted the holy name of Krishna; therefore the sinful reactions you have accrued for many millions of lives are now gone. You are now pure."

Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu then told all the Muslims there, "Chant the holy name of Krishna! Chant the holy name of Krishna!" As they all began to chant, they were overwhelmed by ecstatic love.

---end of quoted material-----

The Muslim world should now be enlightened with this knowledge.
