Thought For The Day: The Whole World is Waiting

ISKCON Pune, India

The real fact is that the whole world is waiting for our spiritual revolution. Deep within everyone's heart there is the burning desire to attain that state of consciousness beyond all miseries by becoming purely, totally reconnected with God. The only difficulty is that everyone has been so heavily propagandized by the culture of material sense gratification that they have lost touch with their original consciousness. They are now taking material sense gratification to be the all in all. But now if we will simply give everyone the chance to be exposed to Krishna prasadam, to Hare Krishna kirtana, and this great transcendental knowledge, we can make the whole world Krishna conscious immediately.

Answers According to Vedic Wisdom

Question: Who is the One True God?

Who is the one true God? Many religions claim their God is the one true God.

Anonymous

Answer: The Supreme Person, Source of All Existence

God means the Supreme Person, the source of all existence. That Supreme Person possesses unlimited powers and potencies. Therefore He has unlimited names. Some call Him “Allah.” Some called Him “Jehovah.” Some call Him “Rama.” Some call Him “Krishna.” Since an ordinary person in this world can be known by different names, just imagine by how many different names that Supreme Person can be known. The real fact is that since God is unlimited He can have hundreds and millions of names and still be the one Supreme Person. Even though He may have hundreds and millions of names that Supreme Person, Who is the source of all existence, is still only One.

Hoping this meets you well.

Thought For The Day: The Spiritual Master's Only Anxiety

Pune, India

The spiritual master personally has no anxiety because he sees how Krishna is so perfectly, lovingly, and wonderfully orchestrating his life for him at every moment. However he does have one anxiety. And it is that he is in great pain to see how the living beings here in this material world are all suffering like anything due to their being bereft of Krishna consciousness. Therefore the spiritual master is always praying for the deliverance of all the fallen, conditioned souls while he simultaneously travels and preaches all over the world trying the devise the ways and means to attract everyone to Krishna.

Answers According to Vedic Wisdom

Question: Feeling Derived from Reading Bhagavad-gita

When was the first time you started reading the Bhagavad-gita? How was the feeling?

Sidharth Sabat

Answer: Offer My Food to Krishna

Dear Sidharth,

Please accept my blessings.

The first time I really connected with the Bhagavad-gita was in the fall of 1968 in Denver, Colorado, USA. In the Bhagavad-gita, Chapter Nine,Text 26 Krishna says that if we offer Him our vegetarian foods with love and devotion, He will accept them. So I set up an altar in my apartment and was offering all of my food before I would eat. (I was a vegetarian.) By my eating such sanctioned, sacrificial food, my life was completely transformed. I became Krishna's devotee. And now for the last 50 years my life’s goal has simply been to make the whole world Krishna conscious as soon as possible to relieve the suffering humanity from their countless, completely unnecessary miseries.

Hoping this meets you well.

Thought For The Day: Krishna's Devotee Never Leaves Vrindavana

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

Today as we leave Vrindavana we find great solace in Srila Prabhupada's explanation as follows in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, Tenth Canto, Chapter 1, Text 28:

"It is understood that Mathura City is the transcendental abode of Lord Krishna; it is not an ordinary material city, for it is eternally connected with the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Vrindavana is within the jurisdiction of Mathura, and it still continues to exist. Because Mathura and Vrindavana are intimately connected with Krishna eternally, it is said that Lord Krishna never leaves Vrindavana (vrndavana parityajya padam ekam na gacchati). At present, the place known as Vrindavana, in the district of Mathura, continues its position as a transcendental place, and certainly anyone who goes there becomes transcendentally purified...There are many devotees who vow never to leave Vrindavana and Mathura. This is undoubtedly a good vow, but if one leaves Vrindavana, Mathura or Navadvipa-dhama for the service of the Lord, he is not disconnected from the Supreme Personality of Godhead."

Just as Krishna never leaves Vrindavana, Krishna's devotee never leaves Vrindavana because he always keeps Krishna and His holy abode of Vrindavana packed up tightly within his heart.

Question: The Origin of God

Assuming the existence of a God, how would one explain His origin?

Surya Kameswara Rao Ravi

Answer: Self-Manifested

Dear Surya Kameswara Rao Ravi,

Please accept my blessings.

God is self-manifested. This is confirmed in the Vedic literatures (Brahma-samhita 5.1) wherein it is stated:

isvarah paramah krsnah
sac-cid-ananda-vigrahah
anadir adir govindah
sarva-karana-karanam

“Krishna who is known as Govinda is the Supreme Godhead. He has an eternal blissful spiritual body. He is the origin of all. He has no other origin and He is the prime cause of all causes.”

If He had some other origin beside Himself, He would not be God.

Thought For The Day: Krishna's Perfect Peace Formula

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

Our modern day human society is tortured by turbulence and conflict at every level. Within families there is conflict. Between families there is conflict. Among and between neighborhoods, communities, cities, states, and nations there is also conflict. If conflict is so natural, why are we even bothered by it at all? The answer is that conflict is not natural. Peace is natural. Therefore conflicts are very disturbing. It is an unhealthy, unnatural condition of relationships that are not going on properly.

So now the question remains: Where will we find peace and relief from all these conflicts? The most sublime answer is given by Lord Sri Krishna in the Bhagavad-gita (Chapter 5, Text 29):

bhoktaram yajña-tapasam
sarva-loka-mahesvaram
suhrdam sarva-bhutanam
jñatva mam santim rcchati

Lord Sri Krishna is so mercifully revealing that anyone who knows Him as the supreme enjoyer, the supreme owner, and the best friend of all living beings relishes unlimited peace within his heart at every minute.

Let everyone throughout the world now understand this and recognize Krishna in this way. This will immediately make the whole world peaceful.

Answers According to Vedic Wisdom

Question: Why God is Unmindful?

Why is God unmindful of our prayers? What must we do to make Him listen? We are bound by our duties to our family. Lord Krishna thinks that we are ignoring Him, and He takes His sweet revenge on us. What to do in this situation?

G.R.

Answer: It Is We Who Are Unmindful, Not God

From: Sri Vrindavana Dhama

My Dear Govinda Rajulu,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

God is fully aware of all our prayers. But because we foolishly keep asking Him for things that are not good for us, He kindly does not answer our prayers.

God is not vengeful. He is always kind and loving. It is the material nature, specifically the law of karma, that punishes us for our sinful activities. But this punishment is actually for our benefit because it purifies us from the contamination we accrued by committing the sinful activity.

When we reach the point of pure devotion, perfectly dovetailing all of our thoughts, words, and deeds with the will of the Lord, it is at that time that we will see how God is perfectly with unlimited love answering every single prayer.

So now, instead of finding fault with God, find fault with yourself for all of your sinful activities. Submit yourself fully now to your most beloved Lord as His eternal servant, and you will experience how He is showering you with His loving mercy at every minute.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Atheists Beware!

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

Atheists beware. Your philosophy leads nowhere. It simply qualifies you to be a dog in your next birth. Is this what you want? The dogs have no consciousness of God. If you try to tell a dog about God or the process of self-realization, how he can become liberated from the cycle of birth and death, he has no way of understanding what in the world you are talking about. He only wants to know where there is a bone and a she-dog.

So, my dear atheist friends, what is your choice d.o.g or g.o.d? Because I am your well-wishing friend, I do hope that you will make the only intelligent choice and not make the stupidest mistake. Otherwise after leaving your present body instead of being a liberated soul tasting unlimited bliss and love in the spiritual world, you will be a dog sniffing for another bone to nibble on here in this miserable material world.

Thought For The Day: Conquer Your Mind, Conquer the World

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

In his purport to Sri Caitanya-caritamrita, Adi Lila, Chapter 7, Verse 83 Srila Prabhupada writes as follows:

"A sincere student aurally receives the holy name from the spiritual master, and after being initiated he follows the regulative principles given by the spiritual master. When the holy name is properly served in this way, automatically the spiritual nature of the holy name spreads; in other words, the devotee becomes qualified in offenselessly chanting the holy name. When one is completely fit to chant the holy name in this way, he is eligible to make disciples all over the world, and he actually becomes jagad-guru. Then the entire world, under his influence, begins to chant the holy names of the Hare Krishna maha-mantra."

The most powerful and effective technique for bringing the mind completely under control in this most materialistic age of Kali is to purely chant the Hare Krishna mahamantra without any offense. The person who has mastered the art of purely chanting Hare Krishna is factually jagad-guru, the spiritual master of the whole universe. He is fully empowered to make the world Krishna consciousness. Such a person has conquered his mind and can indeed conquer the whole world by inducing everyone to chant the Hare Krishna mahamantra. Srila Prabhupada is such a jagad-guru. This is why we want to flood the world with his books.

Request: Please Guide Me

My dear Srila Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

From the past few months, I have become less interested in Krishna Consciousness. I have stopped reading Bhagavad-gita, but I still pray to God. Initially I used to be very excited about bhakti yoga, but now it is driving me mad. I am becoming very rigid. I want to be peaceful, but I am unable to come out of my so-called comfort zone. I know my material ambitions will lead me nowhere, but it's becoming difficult for me to come out of my nonsense comfort zone and practice bhakti. Initially I used to see Krishna sometimes in my dreams and in one dream Srila Prabhupada also came and told me to beg Krishna to bless me to love him. But nowadays I don't dream anything spiritual anymore. I am so ashamed of myself. I have become an unhappy soul. The last time I attended an ISKCON program it was very enlightening. I think Krishna still has hope for me that I can become a devotee.

Please forgive me, Srila Gurudeva, and please guide me.

Answer: Bring Your Mind Back to Krishna

From: Sri Vrindavana Dhama

My Dear Student,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Your problem is that you are following the dictates of your fickle mind. Those who actually successful in spiritual awakening know that the mind must always be engaged under the direction of the intelligence, which is the next door neighbor of the soul. As a matter of self-discipline you must bring your mind back to Krishna in order achieve the ultimate goal of returning back to your original identity you once had in the spiritual world before you foolishly misused your minute independence by coming here to this material world to try to enjoy separately from the Lord.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: The Secret of Rapid Spiritual Advancement

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

The key to making rapid advancement on the ultimate self-realization path of Krishna consciousness is to be steady in your practice in spite of all difficulties that may come. We have to be transcendental to the dualities of heat and cold, sickness and health, honor and dishonor, poverty and wealth, happiness and distress, etc. If we practice like this, we will advance very quickly on the pathway back to home, back to Godhead. So what are we waiting for? Let's it do right now!

Question: How to Chant Offenselessly?

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I have a question based on your Thought for the Day. How can we chant offenselessly? All we can control is the desire and sincerity with which we are praying in the moment, and many times I do pray with sincerity and focus on Krishna. I can't control what i can't perceive in the moment. I can at best focus my mind/thoughts on Krishna and pray with sincerity in a begging mood, and I do that sometimes. However, clearly this could not be offenseless chanting as it is said that if one chants the names of Krishna even once offenselessly, he is delivered/liberated/achieves bhakti.

So, what can I do, that is in my control and I can change by will in the moment, that will lead to offenseless chanting? And if I can't chant offenselessly at will, then I am not sure how to follow the instruction of chanting offenselessly.

Thanking you.

If you strive every day to chant purely, you will gradually attain the stage of pure chanting. Just as drops of water wear away the stone, if you keep chanting sincerely, that day is sure to come when you become perfect in your chanting and Lord Krishna reveals Himself to you.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Correlation Between Agnosticism and Intelligence

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

When I was asked that what is the correlation between agnosticism and intelligence I immediately replied that agnosticism means zero intelligence. Why did I say that?

An agnostic is defined as follows in the dictionary: "a person who believes that nothing is known or can be known of the existence or nature of God or of anything beyond material phenomena."

The reason that I say this is zero intelligence is that this is simply blind faith. The agnostic is convinced that nothing is known or can be known regarding the existence of anything transcendental. Where is the evidence for this? It simply blind faith. The fact is that God can be known by those who approach Him with love. This is confirmed as follows in the Brahma-samhita (5.38):

premañjana-cchurita-bhakti-vilocanena
santah sadaiva hrdayesu vilokayanti
yam syamasundaram acintya-guna-svarupam
govindam adi-purusam tam aham bhajami

"I worship Govinda, the primeval Lord, who is Syamasundara, Krishna Himself with inconceivable innumerable attributes, whom the pure devotees see in their heart of hearts with the eye of devotion tinged with the salve of love."

And it is confirmed by all of those who have fully given to their love to God.

Thought For The Day: Nothing to Lose, Everything to Gain

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

By surrendering fully to Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality Godhead, we have nothing to lose except for our anxiety and the most sublime and relishable transcendental existence to gain. The only reason that everybody in the entire world does not do this is that they are totally covered by ignorance and illusion. Their heads are buried in the sand. This is why we must now make the most vigorous and intelligent propaganda to free the world population from the clutches of ignorance and illusion in which it is now so tightly entangled. Please therefore free yourself from all illusion by carefully studying and following the teachings of Lord Sri Krishna that He gives in the Bhagavad-gita as it is, and then dedicate your life fully to assisting us in this vastly all-important global deliverance mission.

Thought For The Day: Be What is Happening

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

Why be a miserable idiot when instead you can be a super ecstatic enlightened sage? This is real intelligence. All you have to do to achieve this stage is become the student of an enlightened sage, i.e. a bona fide spiritual master. By sincerely following his instructions you will naturally, in due course of time, also become an enlightened sage fully empowered to deliver others from delusion. This is the kind of leaders which our planet now needs more than ever. So kindly rise to the occasion and thus become one of the pivotal persons in global history. Instead of wondering what is happening or watching what is happening, you can indeed be what is happening.

Thought For The Day: Let's Now Make Whole World Krishna Conscious

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

Srila Prabhupada writes as follows in his purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, Ninth Canto, Chapter Ten, Text 53:

"It is said, kali-kale nama-rupe krsna-avatara: Krishna descends in this Kali-yuga in the form of His holy name—Hare Krishna, Hare Rama. If we chant offenselessly, Rama and Krishna are still present in this age. The kingdom of Rama was immensely popular and beneficial, and the spreading of this Hare Krishna movement can immediately introduce a similar situation, even in this Kali-yuga."

So my dear readers and disciples, let's do it. Let us all chant Hare Krishna without offense and turn this planet immediately into the kingdom of God, paradise on earth. Why should we suffer any longer in a hellish atmosphere on this planet? By purely chanting Krishna's names we can immediately make a spiritual revolution on this planet. So let's do it right now, not next week, or tomorrow. Let's do it right now!

Question: Converts to Hinduism?

How many people have been converted to Hinduism by the Hare Krishna movement?

Ashish Mokashi

Answer: The Perfection of all Isms

The answer is zero because Krishna bhakti, Krishna consciousness is the universal essence of all religions. It is simultaneously transcendental to all religions, and at the same time includes all religions within it. Our movement is composed of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Christians, and Jews because it is the universal religion. By practicing Krishna consciousness Hindus become perfect Hindus, Muslims become perfect Muslims, Sikhs become perfect Sikhs, Jains become perfect Jains, Buddhists become perfect Buddhists, Christians become perfect Christians, and Jews become perfect Jews. Even philosophers and scientists become perfect philosophers and scientists. What is going to happen someday is that the whole world will become Krishna conscious and this planet will be transformed into a paradise. May that day come soon. May that day come soon.

Please, Ashish, help us to accomplish this!

Thought For The Day: Why Do We Exist?

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

We exist for the purpose of giving pleasure and satisfaction to Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead. This is why all attempts to try to enjoy separately from Him ultimately end in failure. Therefore the intelligent course of action in this human form of life is to learn how to reawaken one's original loving relationship with Krishna or God. This will give Krishna great pleasure and bring about the awakening of unlimited happiness within the heart of His devotee who has revived his loving relationship with his most beautiful, powerful, renounced, wealthy, famous, and wise Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Answers According to Vedic Wisdom

Question: Nirvana?

It is written that nirvana is enlightenment. Bhakta Laimonas Jancas, who gave me Krishna Consciousness when I was in the university and became one of the main vaishnavas in ISKCON Vilnius and is a lecturer now, told me very strictly, "If you ask for nirvana you will vanish." Thus I should never ask for nirvana ever. And you teach that nirvana which means enlightenment. Can you please explain your understanding of nirvana?

Saulius

Answer: The Supreme Nirvana

From: Sri Vrindavana Dhama

My Dear Saulius,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Srila Prabhupada explains that nirvana means ending the process of materialistic life. According to Buddhist philosophy this means to merge into nothingness. But this is not correct because nothingness exists only as a concept. Factually there is no such thing as nothingness. So the real nirvana is to surrender to Krishna. In this way one successfully ends the process of repeated birth and death. One may get some temporary relief from material miseries thinking he has merged into nothingness, i.e. the Buddhistic nirvana. But if one wants permanent relief from all miseries, he must come the supreme nirvana of Krishna consciousness.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Don't Look for Water in the Desert

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

Being in the holy land of Vrindavana magnifies greatly all of our devotional activities. This is why everyone should come to the most holy places of Sri Mayapur Dhama and Sri Vrindavana Dhama to engage in devotional service and reap the amazing benefit.

On 15 April 2019 in Sri Vrindavana Dhama, on the bank of the most sacred Yamuna River I gave a lecture on Srimad Bhagavatam, 7th Canto, Chapter 13, Text 29. The text and Srila Prabhupada's most wonderful and enlightening purport is as follows:

jalam tad-udbhavais channam
hitvajño jala-kamyaya
mrgatrsnam upadhavet
tathanyatrartha-drk svatah

SYNONYMS

jalam—water; tat-udbhavaih—by grass grown from that water; channam—covered; hitva—giving up; ajñah—a foolish animal; jala-kamyaya—desiring to drink water; mrgatrsnam—a mirage; upadhavet—runs after; tatha—similarly; anyatra—somewhere else; artha-drk—self-interested; svatah—in himself.

TRANSLATION

Just as a deer, because of ignorance, cannot see the water within a well covered by grass, but runs after water elsewhere, the living entity covered by the material body does not see the happiness within himself, but runs after happiness in the material world.

PURPORT

This is an accurate example depicting how the living entity, because of lack of knowledge, runs after happiness outside his own self. When one understands his real identity as a spiritual being, he can understand the supreme spiritual being, Krishna, and the real happiness exchanged between Krishna and one's self. It is very interesting to note how this verse points to the body's growth from the spirit soul. The modern materialistic scientist thinks that life grows from matter, but actually the fact is that matter grows from life. The life, or the spiritual soul, is compared herein to water, from which clumps of matter grow in the form of grass. One who is ignorant of scientific knowledge of the spirit soul does not look inside the body to find happiness in the soul; instead, he goes outside to search for happiness, just as a deer without knowledge of the water beneath the grass goes out to the desert to find water. The Krishna consciousness movement is trying to remove the ignorance of misled human beings who are trying to find water outside the jurisdiction of life. Raso vai sah. Raso 'ham apsu kaunteya [Bg. 7.8]. The taste of water is Krishna. To quench one's thirst, one must taste water by association with Krishna. This is the Vedic injunction.

Question: World Peace?

How do we achieve world peace?

Anonymous

Answer: Recognize the Supreme Owner

When we all recognize that we are not the owners of anything, that the one who has created everything is the factual owner of everything, and that being the real owner of everything, everything is thus meant for his pleasure and satisfaction, and that this supreme owner and enjoyer is our most intimate well-wishing friend—it is then and then only that we will have world peace.

Thought For The Day: Honoring Prasadam

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

When, in a mood of devotion, we eat the remnants of foods that have been offered to Lord Sri Krishna this is known as honoring prasadam. Such eating is a wonderful way that everyone can connect with Krishna and revive their original divine consciousness of pure love of God. It is described by Lord Sri Krishna in Bhagavad-gita, Chapter 9, Text 26 as follows:

patram puspam phalam toyam
yo me bhaktya prayacchati
tad aham bhakty-upahrtam
asnami prayatatmanah

"If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it."

Let everyone all over the world now take advantage of the special mercy of Krishna prasadam. The whole world will become happy.

Question: Taking Prasadam?

How to take prasadam?

Vrajendra Nandana Sacisuta Das

Answer: How to Honor Prasadam

From: Sri Vrindavan Dhama

My Dear Vrajendra Nandan Sacisuta,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Accept prasadam, the vegetarian foodstuffs offered to Lord Sri Krishna, as the special blessings of Krishna upon us. Krishna appears in the form of prasadam to deliver us from this material existence. Therefore we say to honor prasadam instead of just eating it. Here is the prasadam prayer which teaches us how to honor prasadam in the proper mood:

sarira avidya jala, jadendriya tahe kala,
jive phele visaya-sagare
ta’ra madhye jihva ati, lobhamaya sudurmati,
ta’ke jeta kathina samsare
krsna bada dayamaya, karibare jihva jaya,
sva-prasada-anna dila bhai
sei annamrta khao, radha-krsna-guna gao,
preme daka caitanya-nitai

"O Lord! This material body is a lump of ignorance, and the senses are a network of paths leading to death. Somehow or other we have fallen into the ocean of material sense enjoyment, and of all the senses the tongue is the most voracious and uncontrollable. It is very difficult to conquer the tongue in this world, but You, dear Krishna, are very kind to us. You have sent this nice prasada to help us conquer the tongue; therefore let us take this prasada to our full satisfaction and glorify Your Lordships Sri Sri Radha and Krishna and in love call for the help of Lord Caitanya and Prabhu Nityananda."

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Perfect Disciple

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

Krishna says:

ye me bhakta-janah partha
na me bhaktas ca te janah
mad-bhaktanam ca ye bhaktas
te me bhakta-tama matah

“Those who are My direct devotees are actually not My devotees, but only those who are the devotees of My devotee are factually My devotees.

If one is serious about being God's devotee, he must follow the Lord's order to be the devotee of His devotee. In other words, those who claim to be devotees of God but are not devoted to God's devotees are rejected by Him as not being His devotees. This is not some of kind of draconian rule. It is rather a very ecstatic principle.

Why?

The devotees of God are naturally very kind. They are thus very approachable and wonderful. By associating with them we naturally develop love and affection for them. And by awakening our loving feelings for them we automatically awaken love of God within our hearts, which is the perfection of our existence.

Thought For The Day: You Owe It to Yourself

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

You owe it to yourself to awaken your actual identity, which is eternal, full of knowledge, and full of bliss. In other words, why waste time with great endeavor futilely trying to be what you are not, namely that material body you are currently wearing, when you can just naturally be who you really are, the eternal spirit-soul within? This simply a matter of common sense. Why suffer when you can enjoy unlimitedly? The difficulty is that we have been robbed of common sense because we live in a culture of ignorance in which we are programmed into thinking ourselves to be these rotting, stinking bodies when in fact they are nothing more than garments that we are temporarily wearing.

Question: How Will I Unlock My Factual Identity?

How will I unlock my factual identity? Please guide me..

Koma Ibrahim

Answer: Be Now Blessed

From: Sri Vrindavana Dhama

My Dear Koma,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Your actual identity is that you are the eternal servant of Krishna. You have forgotten this actual identify due to misidentification with one material body after another material body after another material body since time immemorial. The simple formula for awakening your actual identity is to take up the process of hearing and chanting about and serving Lord Sri Krishna under the guidance of the bona fide spiritual master. Simply by acting and thinking in this way as a regulated practice you will gradually rewaken your natural propensity to offer your every thought, word, and deed in the service of Lord Sri Krishna. And having done so you will be reawakened to your original, natural state of pure love of God, which will qualify you to enter in the spiritual world at the time of the death of your present material body, never to take birth again this hellish material existence.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Are You a Rolls Royce?

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

Don't cheat yourself by trying to be something which you are not, namely that material body, in which you, the eternal spiritual being, are currently situated as the driver of the machine. If you are driving a Rolls Royce automobile, does that make you a Rolls Royce? You are temporarily the driver of your current vehicle, your current material body, until by the laws of material nature, namely your karma, you qualify yourself for another body, at which time you will be transferred to that different body. Those who are thoughtful, who have awakened their intelligence, live in such a way that upon leaving their present material body they attain their original divine form in the spiritual world, where birth, death, old age, and disease are conspicuous by their absence.

Thought For The Day: Atheists Are All Defeated

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

Srila Prabhupada solidly defeats atheism in the following conversation he had with Dr. Wolf on June 25, 1975 in the garden of ISKCON Los Angeles:

Prabhupada: ...is not knowledge. If the tenant thinks that "This apartment is mine, I am owner," then he is wrong. If he knows perfectly well that it belongs to the landlord, "I have given for use," then it is knowledge.

Dr. Wolf: Srila Prabhupada, and the tenant can be easily evicted.

Prabhupada: Yes. Evicted. At that time he knows the owner. (laughter) When he is kicked out. That is stated also in the Bhagavad-gita. Mrityu sarva-haras caham [Bg. 10.34]. Those who are not believing in God, to them God will come one day as death, "Now believe Me. Get out!" Finished. All your pride finished. Your pride, your property, your family, your bank balance, your skyscraper building—all taken away. "Finished. Get out." This is God. Now understand God? To believe or not believe, God will come one day. He will take you, take your everything, and "Get out!" That is God. You believe or not believe. It doesn't matter.

The same example, the tenant may not believe the landlord, but when the landlord will come with court's order, "Get out," then you have to go out. That's all. That is stated in the Bhagavad-gita, that "Those who are not believer in God, to them I come as death and take away everything, finished." That one has to believe, "Yes, as sure as death." Then God is sure. You may challenge so long you have got little life for a few years, (laughter) but God will come and drive you away from your present pride, prestigious position, "Get out."

So unless one is madman, he cannot say, "There is no God." Anyone who denies the existence of God, he is a madman.

Dr. Wolfe: Prabhupada, wouldn't it be better to say he is blind, he is stupid?

Prabhupada: Yes, the same thing. Mad is the sum total of all stupidity. (laughter) When I say mad, it is the sum total of all kinds of stupidity.

Here is some extra special nectar. Now you can hear the above conversation by clicking here.

Question: Why Are Theists Afraid of Atheists?

Why do theists think that atheists are such a threat to their beliefs?

Anonymous

Answer: They Are Not!

Enlightened theism is not based on belief. It is based on science. Therefore such theists do not at all feel threatened by the non-scientific dogma of atheism. All of our atheist friends (the poor ignorant fools) will be solidly defeated when God comes to them in the form of death and takes away everything that they have.

Thought For The Day: We're Out to Conquer the World

Sri Vrindavana Dhama, India

We are out to conquer the world to bring peace, happiness, and prosperity back to a world which is becoming more and more fragmented, chaotic, miserable, and poverty stricken with each passing generation. The real cause of all this madness is godlessness. The more the world becomes godless, the more it becomes a hellish nightmare. The solution is to bring God back to the center of the human society. I am not speaking of a sectarian conception of God. I am talking about a scientific understand of God, as the supreme source or fountainhead of all that exists. Therefore we must now capture the attention of all the leaders of the human society and educate them in the science of God.

Thought For The Day: Millions of Times Better than Sex

Copenhagen, Denmark

In this material world practically everyone is most foolishly running after sex life, accepting it as the topmost pleasure. And because of this, they are unnecessarily suffering in so many ways. By such absorption in sex pleasure, they are destining themselves to become animals in their next life, getting their next body in a species where there is much better facility for sex pleasure. However, those who are intelligent realize that far, far beyond sex pleasure is the pleasure of loving Krishna or God. Therefore instead of absorbing their lives in sexual pursuits they deep sea dive every day and at every minute into that unlimitedly sublime ocean of love of God. Persons who are too much mad after sex have to learn from such self-realized souls how to get the higher taste of Krishna consciousness, which is millions of times better than the so-called pleasure of sex.

Answers According to Vedic Wisdom

Report: From Mahabhagavat Das

Dear Srila Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances at your lotus feet.
All glories unto your divine grace.

By your blessings, I was able to complete a successful pilgrimage to India after 5 years. The whole thing was miraculous. With 7 weeks away, I thought I'd lose my job (but didn't care about that), or in the very least, have to forego salary (didn't mind that too), but amazingly, it was a paid vacation after all, in exchange for answering a few work-related emails! And I'm warmly welcomed, everything worked very, very well, and all's well after all in the world of work.

During this trip, I visited Mumbai, Pune, Mayapur, Jagannath Puri, Bhubaneshwar, Remuna, Hyderabad, Anantagiri, Mantralayam, Tirupati, Srirangam, Cochin, Chandigarh, Gwalior, Delhi, and Vrindavan over 50 days.

I was able to serve by distributing books profusely (around 30 outings over 50 days, over one thousand books), make donations, and give more than 15 classes based on your instructions. Everywhere I went, I carried your books and Srila Prabhupada's books, and distributed them. Many, many fortunate souls received the books and many also signed up for your eCourse - language was the only barrier sometimes, but some day your eCourse may be translated in all of the world's languages!

There were many, many miraculous experiences, including one place where they said I had to give the class in Hindi 5 mins before the class began, and to be honest, I am not capable of giving a class in Hindi. I have forgotten all the words and all the vocabulary is lost after 20+ years in the West, and there wasn't much to begin with, being a South Indian and educated in English! But I humbly prayed to you and the words just flowed for more than 90 minutes, even though externally even your divine grace does not speak Hindi, this is a miracle only possible by grace of Sri Guru.

Then in Mantralayam, I was summoned by the temple president, the chief administrator, while I was distributing Srila Prabhupada's books, I thought I was in trouble, but the man, after some stern questioning, softened, and took one copy each of every book I had with me, promising to read, and thanked me for the great service, and that I was welcome to distribute these books any day in that traditional temple!

There were many, many amazingly miraculous experiences, and the whole trip was more incredible than I could have even imagined. I will surely write about the Sankirtana experiences, and will be speaking about this trip for years to come.

The purpose of my trip was to deeply ask what is my service to your mission, how I can maybe make this life somewhat less useless. Every temple, every Samadhi, every place of pilgrimage, this was my only question - what should I do? how should I mould my life in your service?

I have realized that you are blessing me to be a preacher, to go far and wide, deep into all those places that you personally cannot visit, and take your message there.

But my biggest realization is that you are expanded in so many ways to bless me everywhere I may go. In Srirangam, there is Ramanujacharya, you are his expansion. In Mantralayam, Raghavendra Swami, you are his expansion. Jagannatha Das Babaji, you are his expansion. Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati, you are his expansion. Bhaktivinoda Thakura, you are his expansion. Haridasa Thakura, you are his expansion. Srila Prabhupada, you are his mercy expansion also. You spoke through the mouths of ordinary people also, and you instructed me through every circumstance. You tailor-made every situation to make me Krishna conscious, lovingly or with a slap, somehow, you were always merciful.

Just like Lord Ganesha circumambulated Lord Shiva and Parvati, and defeated Kartikeya in a competition, similarly, I need to only perfect my service (even if in separation) to yourself and Gurumataji. All success is there in that simple endeavor to please you both. Even though there are so many constraints, still you accept me with all my flaws, that is your greatness!

And then when I came back home, you are present on my altar also, as your divine self, as all these spiritual masters, and as Sri Nityananda Prabhu.

Therefore, the whole purpose of my pilgrimage has been to gain an expanded understanding of your glories, Srila Gurudeva, you are my savior. Without you, I have no understanding of anything devotional, no place in devotional service whatsoever, and absolutely no chance at all in spiritual life.

Even though I am such a useless fool, by your mercy, you have accepted me as your disciple.

Now I want to spend lifetime after lifetime perfecting the art of being a sincere disciple, and serve you, your mission, and your followers for all of eternity.

There is a lot more to write, to say, but words fail me, but I take solace that you know my heart, so I pray to remain your humble servitor.

My Dear Mahabhagavat,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Just see how Lord Sri Krishna has reciprocated with your staunch desire to preach by so nicely covering your material necessities. This is proof of how when we fully surrender to Krishna that He takes good care of our spiritual and material needs.

I have now read your simply wonderful report twice. I cannot express to you how much I am pleased with how purely you are representing me and Srila Prabhupada to the suffering souls of this world.

Disciples like you are profoundly and powerfully assisting me in the world deliverance mission given to us by Srila Prabhupada. I can never thank you enough for your staunch dedication to this mission.

Please continue in this way throughout your entire life doing everything possible to push forward this Krishna consciousness movement for the deliverance of the fallen, conditioned souls back to home, back to Godhead. In this way your spiritual perfection is guaranteed and you will regain your original relationship with Lord Sri Krishna in His unlimitedly sublime divine pastimes in the spiritual world.

Thought For The Day: The Greatest Transformation in Universal History

Copenhagen, Denmark

We are presently situated at the most pivotal moment in the history of our universe. The modern day civilization is the process of completely disintegrating itself, forcing the human society back into an uncivilized jungle existence. But 500 years ago Lord Caitanya, who is Krishna Himself in the form of His own devotee, has appeared to rescue the human society by inaugurating the sankirtana movement, which is the congregational chanting of the holy names of God. Now by the grace of His greatest devotee, His Divine Grace A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, that sankirtana movement has spread all over the world and will continue expanding until the whole world becomes Krishna conscious. Just at that moment when everything appears to be hopeless, the Supreme Lord has made Himself most easily accessible through the chanting of His holy names: Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare / Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.

Thought For The Day: "Save Them - They Are Dying"

London, England

Srila Prabhupada ordered us to fully absorb ourselves in Krishna consciousness and to then preach to the suffering souls of this world to save them from their dying condition without Krishna consciousness. In a Srimad Bhagavatam lecture given on 31 May 1972 in Los Angeles, Srila Prabhupada stated as follows regarding the plight of the people in this world who are suffering without Krishna consciousness:

"There is no life. So life is Krishna consciousness. So if you actually feel for your country, for your community, for your people, just spread this Krishna consciousness. They're dying. You spread this Krishna consciousness. They'll come again to life, and everything will be actually beautiful. That is my request."

Let us all now fully surrender to Srila Prabhupada's most merciful instruction and dedicate ourselves fully to awakening the suffering souls of this world to Krishna consciousness.

The mind is like a naughty child. You have the scold it again and again and again until it finally learns to behave by always staying absorbed in Krishna consciousness.

Perseverance furthers. If you stick with this process of Krishna consciousness no matter how many ups and downs you face, you are guaranteed to come out a winner in the end.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: Striving for the impossible

Srila Prabhupada explains how one who is actually Krishna conscious is always fully absorbing in Lord Caitanya's mission of delivering the fallen, suffering souls of this world back to their original all-blissful identities they once had in the spiritual world before they fell down into this miserable material world due to a misuse of their minute independence. In this regard he writes as follows:

"A Krishna conscious being is always engaged in planning how to take all of suffering humanity back home, back to Godhead. Even if one is not successful in reclaiming all the fallen souls back to Godhead, still, because he is Krishna conscious, his path to Vaikunthaloka is open. He personally becomes qualified to enter the Vaikunthatlokas, and if anyone follows such a devotee, he also enters into Vaikunthaloka."

Those who are factually intelligent strive to be such Krishna conscious beings who can deliver the world, even though it may be impossible to do so. In this way they receive the special mercy of Krishna.

Question: How to Convince Me of God's Existence?

How would you convince me of the existence of God knowing that I'm an atheist?

Anonymous

Answer: Everything Comes from Something

You can’t show me anything that comes out of nothing because everything comes from something. Trace the line of causality back until you find the original cause. When you reach that point you have found God.

Thought For The Day: Nothing to Lose, Everything to Gain

Austin, Texas USA

Through the ultimate self-realization process of Krishna consciousness we have nothing to lose except for all of our anxiety and absolutely everything to gain. So who is that fool who would not wholeheartedly take up the pathway of Krishna consciousness? Unfortunately at the present moment, due to a system of miseducation, the entire human society is neglecting the pathway of Krishna consciousness and thus unnecessarily suffering like anything. Our mission is to awaken them all. We are praying to Lord Krishna, begging Him that we can be successful in our mission which has been given to us by Lord Caitanya and His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Question: How to Go Beyond Mood Swings?

Hare Krishna.

Respected Gurudeva,

Please accept my humble obeisances

I want to practice Krishna consciousness very seriously, but I observe that I am unable to connect and that I get distracted very easily. Sometimes I feel what I am doing under the guidance of the Bhagavad-gita is right and I can do it, but then there is so much distraction and I suffer from mood swings. Please tell the easiest way for youth like me to connect.

Your obedient disciple,
Srishti

Answer: Accept Guru's Order as Your Life and Soul

From: ISKCON Austin, Texas USA

My Dear Srishti,

Please accept my blessings.
All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

The way to rise beyond the mental platform of mood swings is to accept the order of your spiritual master as your very life and soul.

I hope this meets you in the best of health and in an ecstatic mood.

Thought For The Day: The Unlimited Nectar of Krishna's Name

Austin, Texas USA

In amazingly beautiful Sanskrit poetry Srila Rupa Goswami has very nicely and poetically described the unlimited nectar that is found in the two syllables "krish" and "na." Considering this verse, why should we be so foolish as to look anywhere else for happiness and satisfaction? Even the topmost material pleasure of sexual intercourse pales away into insignificance when compared to the unlimited oceans of nectar found in Lord Sri Krishna's holy name. Here is the verse:

tunde tandavini ratim vitanute tundavali-labdhaye
karna-kroda-kadambini ghatayate karnarbudebhyah sprham
cetah-prangana-sangini vijayate sarvendriyanam krtim
no jane janit kiyadbhir amrtaih krsneti varna-dvayit

TRANSLATION

“I do not know how much nectar the two syllables ‘Krish-na’ have produced. When the holy name of Krishna is chanted, it appears to dance within the mouth. We then desire many, many mouths. When that name enters the holes of the ears, we desire many millions of ears. And when the holy name dances in the courtyard of the heart, it conquers the activities of the mind, and therefore all the senses become inert.”
